WCA Luncheon Club

This Club is co-ordinated by Ms. Tieu Binh Tien.

Luncheon club team work

Members meet on Tuesdays at Wirral Change. The club provides a nutritious traditional home cooked style hot meal for the elders. Members received health enhancing talks given by professional practitioners and security and safety advice from our Community Police which were all very well received. Day trips out to places of interest/visits to restaurants are always very popular. The Club was funded by the local authority till June 2017. The Club is grateful to the support of Mr Hsu’s legacy and Wirral Change

WCA Chinese School

WCA Chinese School – Ms Rita Lee is the Headteacher.

Lessons take place on Saturdays at Wirral Change

The school was founded by Ms Ivy Chee in September 1993. She started the school with a handful of Chinese students learning Cantonese and Mandarin. We now also have GCSE, A-level, 11+ and one to one tutoring. The Students are of different backgrounds, ranging in age from 2 to 70 years old. One is never too old to learn. We have a playgroup for the 2 to 3 years old children.

In addition, there are many extra-curricular activities which the students are actively encouraged to participate in, gaining many prizes in essay writing, calligraphy and dancing competitions. The school Dancing Group won the 1st prize at the UK Federation of Chinese Schools (UKFCS) Annual Cultural Performances 2018.

In June 2018, students took Chinese Proficiency Test, HSK exams, achieving very good results. The School staff are experienced and well trained. They are actively encouraged to attend various training courses regularly to further their skills and knowledge. The School is Hanban approved HSK (HanYu Sui Ping Kao Shi).

WCA Women’s Group (WG)

Members of the WG meet regularly for social gatherings. They organize Day Trips out and social activities for the Community. These are especially popular with the elders and their families.

WCA Culture Group (CG)

The group organizes cultural activities to promote the learning of Chinese Culture through dance classes and healthy exercises. They often perform for the local communities and organisations, bringing delightful entertainments to all and help to integrate the Chinese Culture into our local Communities.

These four groups together with our Committee members are the backbone of the Association.
